English: Hemchandra Barua, also known as Hem Barua was a prominent writer, social reformer of Assamese of the 19th century. He hailed from Sibsagar District of Assam. His father was Muktaram Barua. He wrote first exhaustive Assamese dictionary Hemkosh.
