p.799: "An unusual miniature from the Ottoman historian Gelibolulu Mustafa Ali's (d. 1600) Nusretname (the Book of Victory) dated 992 H./1584 from the Topkapı Palace Museum Library (H. 1365, fol. 229r, fig. 1), representing the murder of the Safavid Begum."
p.800: "The unusual miniature under discussion here is found only in the royal Topkap1 copy of 1584 and depicts the execution of Khair al-Nisa Begum, the first wife of the Safavid shah, Muhammad Khudabanda (1578-1588) (H. 1365, fol. 229r). She was accused of having an adulterous affair with the Crimean Tatar prince Adil Giray and both were consequently murdered."
p.801: "Soon a rumor that she was having an adulterous affair with the Crimean Tartar prince Adil Giray was spread about her and Khair al-Nisa Begum was strangled in her living quarters in the Harem in July 1579, together with many of her kinsfolk and countrymen."
