किदांबी साल 2008 में अपना प्रोफेशनल बैडमिंटन कैरियर के सुरुआत कइलें आ साल 2012 में भारत के राष्ट्रीय टीम के हिस्सा बनलें। इनके पहिली परसिद्धि साल 2011 में मिलल जब ई कॉमनवेल्थ युवा खेल में पुरुष बर्ग में सिल्वर मेडल जितलें, ई टूर्नामेंट आइल्स ऑफ मान में आयोजित भइल रहल। किदांबी आपन पहिली सुपर सिरीज साल 2014 में चाइना ओपन में जितलें।[२]

सुरुआती जीवन

श्रीकांत किदांबी के जनम भारतीय राज्य आंध्र प्रदेश के पूर्ब गोदावली जिला के रावुलापलेम गाँव में 2 जुलाई 1993 के भइल। इनके पिताजी के नाँव केवीएस कृष्णा हवे आ महतारी के नाँव राधा हऽ। इनके बाबूजी खेतिहर जमींदार हवें आ माताजी गृहिणी हई।[३] इनके एगो बड़हन भाई के नंदगोपाल बाने आ उहो बैडमिंटन खेलाड़ी हवें।[४] खेती करे वाला परिवार में पैदा भइल दुनों भाई में से पहिले नंदगोपाल घर से बैडमिंटन खेले खाती विशाखापत्तनम चल गइलें आ साल भर बाद श्रीकांत भी उनके पाछे इहे काम कइलें। इहाँ आंध्र प्रदेश खेल अकादमी में भारती हो के दुनों भाई हास्टल में एह के खेल सीखे लागल। इनहन लोग के गुरू, सुधाकर रेड्डी, जे आंध्र प्रदेश खाती राज्य स्तर के खेलाड़ी रह चुकल रहलें, कुछ साल बाद खम्मम चल अइलें आ इनहीं के साथे नंदगोपाल आ किदांबियो खम्मम आ गइल लोग। साल 2000 के बाद जब घर के लागहीं गुंटूर में नया स्टेडियम चालू भइल ओकरे बाद एह लोग के खेल सीखे में अउरी तेजी आइल। एकरे बाद ई लोग पुलेला गोपीचंद के निर्देश में खेल सीखे लागल।

कैरियर

2014 से पहिले

In the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games in Isle of Man, Kidambi won the silver in mixed doubles and bronze in doubles.[५] He also emerged winner in the singles and doubles category at the All India Junior International Badminton Championship held in Pune.[६]

In 2012 Kidambi overcame the then Junior World Champion Zulfadli Zulkiffli of Malaysia in the Maldives International Challenge to claim the Men’s singles title.[७]

In the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold event, Kidambi won the Men’s singles title beating then world number eight and local favorite Boonsak Ponsana in straight sets.[८] In the same year, Kidambi beat reigning champion and Olympian Parupalli Kashyap in the All India Senior National Championships in दिल्ली to claim his first senior national title.[९] He was also part of the Awadhe Warriors team that finished second in the Indian Badminton League, 2013.[१०]

2014 से 2016

Kidambi finished runner up at the 2014 India Open Grand Prix Gold event in Lucknow[११] and was a quarter finalist in 2014 Malaysian Open.[१२] He was part of the Indian badminton contingent that reached the semi finals of the Mixed-team event at the Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow.[१३] He also reached the quarter finals of the Men's Singles event in the same tournament. [१४] In November, he created a major upset in the final of the 2014 China Open Super Series Premier by beating 5 times World Champion and 2 times Olympic Champion Lin Dan in straight sets (21–19 21–17), thus becoming the first Indian to win a Super Series Premier Men's title.[१५] He then reached semi finals of Hong Kong Open Super Series after beating in-form Chou Tien-Chen in the early rounds. He lost to Chen Long of China in three sets in the semifinals. With those wins he was qualified for the world super series finals. He defeated Kento Momota (15–21 21–16 21–10) and Tommy Sugiarto (21–18 21–13) in the group stage to reach Semi Finals of the prestigious BWF Super Series Masters Finals where he again lost to Chen Long of China.[१६]

Kidambi became the first Indian male to win gold at the 2015 Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold by defeating Viktor Axelsen 21–15,12–21,21–14.The same year he also won India Open Super Series title by defeating Viktor Axelsen in the finals[१७]

Kidambi reached the semifinal in the Malaysia Masters, where he lost to Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin of Malaysia in January. The following week he won the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships Grand Prix Gold title, defeating Huang Yuxiang 21–13, 14–21, 21–14 in the final. At the 2016 South Asian Games, he won two gold medals, in men's team and men's singles, defeating Prannoy Kumar in the singles final. At the 2016 Badminton Asia Team Championship, although his team lost in the semifinal, he remained undefeated.

In the 2016 Rio Olympics, the World No. 11, Kidambi entered the round of 16 of the men's singles by beating Lino Muñoz and Henri Hurskainen. He went on to beat World No. 5 Jan Ø. Jørgensen 21–19, 21–19 to reach the quarterfinals,[१८] but was defeated by Lin Dan by a score of 6–21, 21–11, and 18–21.

2017

Srikanth Kadambi and Sai Praneeth created history when they became the first ever Indian pair to enter the finals of a ranking event in Badminton. Both hailing from Hyderabad and being coached by Pullela Gopichand, it was Sai Praneeth who prevailed 17-21, 21-17, 21-12 eventually to clinch the 2017 Singapore Super Series title.[१९]

He won the 2017 Indonesia Super Series Premier beating Japan's Kazumasa Sakai 21-11, 21-19 thereby becoming the 1st ever Indian man to do so. He also went on to win 2017 Australian Super Series beating China's Chen Long 22-20, 21-16, making a record of entering three consecutive Super Series Events Finals.[२०] Srikanth entered the quarterfinal round of 2017 BWF World Championships held at Glasgow, where he was defeated by Son Wan-Ho of South Korea in straight sets. Later in October, Srikanth won the third Super Series Title of the Year at 2017 Denmark Super Series Premier,by defeating Lee Hyun-il of Korea 21-10,21-5. Following his good run, He became the only fourth Badminton Player ever to win 4 Super Series titles in a year, when he won 2017 French Super Series equaling the likes of Lee Chong Wei, Lin Dan, and Chen Long by defeating Japan's Kenta Nishimoto 21-14,21-13 in the finals,catapulting him to number 2 in world ranking.
